About Sarah
Sarah qualified as a physiotherapist in England in 2001, working in NHS and private hospital settings before moving permanently to New Zealand in 2011. Over the next decade, she gained experience in a range of settings, including orthopaedics, fracture clinics, hand therapy, emergency departments, and musculoskeletal clinics. In 2018, Sarah began an internship with Physiotherapy Specialist Dr. Angela Cadogan, focusing primarily on shoulder rehabilitation. She completed her Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy in 2019, and in 2025, Sarah was registered as a Physiotherapy Specialist.
Sarah currently works as a Specialist Shoulder Physiotherapist at Port Hills Physio + Pilates and in the private rooms of Upper Limb Surgeon Mr Alex Malone at Leinster Chambers.
In addition to her clinical work, Sarah holds several non-clinical roles: she serves as an independent reviewer for the Health and Disability Commissioner, reviews the competency of peers for the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand, is a peer reviewer for journal publications, and is a member of the executive committee for the New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association (NZMPA).
Sarah published her Master's research in the New Zealand Journal of Physiotherapy, investigating predictors for people with subacromial bursitis who are unlikely to respond to injection therapy. She is actively involved in research and has presented at both national and international conferences.
Outside of her physiotherapy career (which seems to take up rather a lot of time), Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, which has led to her involvement with Canterbury Artistic Swimming, where she has discovered that judging is more her forte than competing. In the past five years, she has transitioned from triathlon sports to women's team adventure racing, enjoying the team dynamic, navigation challenges, and unexpected adventures that make the races more memorable. Though she hasn't had much time for open water swimming recently, she still harbours the wild dream of swimming across the Cook Strait. On weekends, Sarah can often be found walking her dog or volunteering at her local ParkRun.
